Most picnic tables are sold with a pre-cut hole in the centre. This is so they can be used in combination with a parasol.
This seems sensible, since most of us will be using our picnic tables during the summer. With the heat of the sun beating down on us, we may not feel quite so comfortable when eating a meal outside, or even if we're simply trying to enjoy a chat.
A parasol can help by adding that additional element of shade. There's no longer any need to face those same levels of discomfort.
Parasols do come in all shapes and sizes, although most designs are pretty similar. They usually have a base that is designed to provide material. It's often designed using a solid, heavy material. Alernatively, you may choose a parasol base that's made of plastic and that is filled with water to provide this same stability.
The main section of the parasol will usually fold down when not in use. This saves it from catching the wind and will also mean that you can take advantage of the sunshine if you prefer. It's offering that extra bit of flexibility.
During colder times of the year, or when it's raining, you may want to make use of a parasol cover. This will protect your parasol from the worst of the weather. You will usually need to buy a separate weather cover for your picnic table.
Most garden furniture stores do sell covers too, so it makes sense to buy everything at the same time.
You'll soon have your garden in the perfect state to deal with hot weather.
